pig & whistle pottery
pottery studio and gallery
Any regular traveller to or through the town approaching from the North at the first glimpse of Braidwood could anticipate to see Richard's display of his fine stoneware pottery at the Pig and the Whistle Gallery and a friendly invitation to come in and browse.
Richard Murray, one of Braidwood's well known potters, has evolved shapes, glazes and decorations which reflect, and inspired by, his long time love of over 35 years of the Braidwood landscape.
His huge range of stoneware creations, from cups and plates of all shapes and sizes to bowls and vases to complete dinner sets - made to order - are both decorative and functional, highly individual and collectible.
Works are all wheel-thrown and fired to 1300 degree C in a gas kiln.
The Gallery gets its name from the former Railway Hotel, familiarly known as the Pig and Whistle Hotel, that stood on this site from the 1850s in anticipation of a railway service to Braidwood which never arrived.
Don't just drive by, turn into Richard's driveway - there is ample parking - and find the perfect gift, even if it is to yourself.
