a destination to stop, shop, eat and stay in the atmosphere of history
McLeod Gallery -
the all Australian gallery
McLeod Gallery is a small friendly intimate gallery which proudly exhibits the work of Australian artists and crafts people.
It is housed in the Albion Centre, the building, one of Braidwood’s famous 19th century heritage collection, was completed in 1872 and was the site of the Albion Hotel, considered the most fashionable and “up-market” hotel of its time.
Jill McLeod describes her gallery as “middle of the road”. She has not entered the world of investment art, but she does represent many hardworking national, regional and local Australian artists who produce top class works.
You will find visual art in two dimensional form, paintings in oils, pastel, watercolours and acrylics, photographs, together with ceramics and pottery, woven, knitted and crocheted fashion accessories, wearable art and a range of artists’ cards and merchandise unique to her gallery in Braidwood.
McLeod Gallery is usually open Monday to Saturday although, at times, Jill’s other busy life interferes. Apart from her gallery she indulges in cultural development and event organisation, she is a publicist, writer and radio presenter, and just occasionally she feels the necessity to take a day off.
